Bending The Big Stuff

Postby Supermodman » Sun Apr 09, 2017 5:15 pm

Another question for you guys: since I have yet to learn the art of soldering together brass frames, I was hoping I could get away with building the frame for my super using good ol' Evergreen plastic tubing. Because I'm building a 60's-era car, most of the joints will be square... albeit fish-mouthed for a nice fit. However, there are a few areas, like the front and rear nerf bars, that need to have some bends in them. That hasn't been a problem working in 1/16 scale, as I just inserted some brass rod inside some 3/16" tubing to get the bends I needed. 'Gonna be a different story working with 7/32 tubing in 1/8 scale! 'Wouldn't be an issue if I could find a source for 7/32 solid rod, but so far, no luck. Any suggestions?

Norman Sterner just uses Brass rod in his tubing for 1/8th scale.
